EmuCool - Retro Game Emulator

EmuCool is a retro game emulator, bringing back the fond memories of classic consoles from your childhood. With a warm, nostalgic interface and simple, intuitive controls, it helps you easily manage your games, saves, and notes.

Game Library

Supports popular platforms including NES, Game Boy / Color, Genesis / Mega Drive, Game Boy Advance, and SNES. Just import your own game files (ROMs) via the system document picker, and EmuCool will automatically give them retro‑style artwork and organize them by platform. You can sort games by last played, or use the search to quickly find what you want. Long‑press any game to rename, add notes, or delete it—all related saves and screenshots are handled together.

Save Management

Each game can have up to 4 manual save slots, with optional auto‑save on exit and auto‑load on entry (toggle in Settings). In the Saves tab, all saves are grouped by game and shown with thumbnail previews, so you can instantly recognise your progress. Tap a thumbnail to load that save and jump right back into the action. The in‑game pause menu also offers quick save/load options, complete with haptic feedback and toast messages for a smooth, convenient experience.

Game Notes

Keep separate notes for each game—like passwords, hidden secrets, or your own tips. All notes are organised by platform in the Notes tab, where you can see the first line of each note. To edit, just long‑press a game in the library or open the pause menu while playing; notes are saved alongside the game file for easy access.

Gameplay Experience

EmuCool customises the virtual button layouts for each platform, placing the D‑pad and action buttons to feel as close as possible to the original controllers. Games run full‑screen in portrait orientation. When you switch to the background, the game automatically pauses and resumes when you return. The pause menu lets you continue, save/load, reset, edit notes, or exit.

Retro Visuals

The overall look is warm and retro, with a main palette of warm beige and vintage red that matches the app icon. Background colours shift subtly when you switch platforms, and game artwork is overlaid with a gentle scanline effect for that classic feel. The tab bar has a frosted‑glass finish, and the settings page slides in from the right—every detail is crafted with care.

Data & Privacy

All your games, saves, screenshots, and notes are stored in the app's Documents folder, which you can access and manage through the system Files app. When you rename a game, all associated files are updated automatically; when you delete a game, you can choose to remove only the ROM or wipe everything, including saves and notes.

EmuCool does not include any game ROMs or copyrighted content. The game screens and names shown in preview images are for demonstration only. You must provide your own legally obtained game files (ROMs) to use the full functionality of this app. Please ensure you have the legal right to use the games you import and comply with local copyright laws. EmuCool assumes no responsibility for any game content provided by users.
